Hookab Terms & Conditions
Welcome to Hookab, a ride-hailing and fintech platform that connects drivers and riders while enabling users to manage transactions such as bill payments, mobile recharges, and in-app spending. By using Hookab, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree with these terms, you should not use Hookab.
1. DEFINITIONS
- “Hookab” refers to the mobile application, website, and services offered by Hookab.
- “User” refers to anyone using Hookab, including both drivers and passengers.
- “Driver” refers to an individual providing transportation services via Hookab.
- “Passenger” refers to an individual requesting transportation through Hookab.
- “Service” refers to Hookab’s ride-hailing, fintech features, and in-app transactions.
2. ELIGIBILITY & ACCOUNT REGISTRATION
- General User Requirements
- Users must be at least 18 years old (or the legal age in their jurisdiction).
- Users must provide accurate personal information, phone number, and email.
- Users must not have been previously banned from Hookab. Driver-Specific Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle registration.
- Must pass a criminal background and driving history check.
- Must maintain an insured, roadworthy vehicle that meets Hookab’s standards.
3. PAYMENT TERMS & TRANSACTIONS
- Ride Payments
- Passengers must pay ride fares upfront using cash, credit/debit cards, or in-app wallets.
- Hookab applies dynamic pricing (surge pricing) during peak hours.
- Hookab may pre-authorize payments before trip confirmation.
- Driver Earnings
- Drivers receive earnings after each trip, minus Hookab’s commission fee.
- Drivers may withdraw funds instantly or via weekly auto-payouts.
- Fraudulent activities may result in earnings suspension.
- Fintech Features (Bill Payments & Recharges)
- Users may pay bills, purchase data, or recharge mobile credit using Hookab’s fintech services.
- All fintech transactions are final, except in cases of fraud or errors.
4. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY
- Passenger Cancellations
- Free cancellation is allowed within [X] minutes of booking.
- A cancellation fee of [$X] applies for late cancellations.
- Driver Cancellations
- Drivers who cancel excessively or without valid reasons may face suspension.
- Refund Policy
- Refund requests must be submitted via Hookab’s in-app support within 48 hours of the trip.
- Refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days, subject to review.
5. SAFETY & USER CONDUCT
- A. Safety Features
- Real-Time Ride Tracking: Share ride details with family or friends.
- Emergency SOS Button: Contact law enforcement from the app.
- Ride Verification Code (PIN): Ensure correct driver-passenger match.
- B. User Responsibilities
- Users must treat others with respect and follow local laws.
- Harassment, discrimination, or unruly behavior may result in account suspension.
6. DATA PRIVACY & PERMISSIONS
- Hookab is committed to protecting user privacy. By using Hookab, you agree to the collection, processing, and storage of your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
- Location Data: Used for trip matching, navigation, and ride tracking.
- Personal Information: Stored securely for user verification and service improvements.
- Payment Details: Encrypted and processed through secure payment gateways.
- Data Sharing: Hookab does not sell personal data but may share anonymized data with trusted partners for analytics and fraud prevention.
- Users may request data deletion via in-app settings or by contacting privacy@hookab.com
7. ACCOUNT SUSPENSION & TERMINATION
- Hookab may suspend or terminate accounts for:
- Engaging in fraudulent activities.
- Violating safety policies or misconduct rules.
- Repeated trip cancellations or fare evasion.
- Banned users may not create new accounts without authorization.
8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
- Hookab does not provide insurance for rides. Users travel at their own risk.
- Hookab is not liable for accidents, damages, or disputes arising during rides.
- In case of technical issues, Hookab will attempt to resolve them, but service is not guaranteed 24/7.
9. DISPUTE RESOLUTION
- Users must first report issues via Hookab in-app support.
- Unresolved disputes may be escalated to arbitration in federal in courts in Nigeria
